Falling Pomegranate Seeds will soon be available for Pre-order!
Any day now will see the publication of my third Tudor novel. Smile – kind of Tudor. Falling Pomegranate Seeds: Duty of Daughters is the first novel of what I hope will eventually be a Katherine of Aragon trilogy. I started work on this trilogy years ago, but put it aside when it didn’t find a publishing home – despite receiving lots of lovely feedback; the original version of the story was even shortlisted for the HarperCollins Varuna Award.
I never forgot Falling Pomegranate Seeds. How could I? The original version of the first part of Katherine of Aragon’s story took two years to research and write – and gave me the excitement of travelling to Spain to walk in the footsteps of my characters. Last year, I decided to take up the challenge of rewriting that manuscript, and now I am utterly delighted to announce MadeGlobal, a wonderful publisher who specialises in history works, will be publishing it. I must pause here and give immense thanks to Kurt Florman and David Major, the hardworking and fantastic team behind Metropolis Ink, the publisher of my two first Tudor novels. I will always be grateful for the doors they opened to me when they decided to take a chance on me and published Dear Heart, How Like You This? in 2002.
MadeGlobal offers a publishing company with a passionate focus on history. I am now part of a company that already publishes lots of people I know, respect and regard as friends – pastime in good company, indeed.
NEWS FLASH!
Falling Pomegranate Seeds is now available for preorder:

Dearest Wendy – You know how much I admire your work and treasure your friendship. Thank you for adding this easily navigatable website to your repertoire. Accolades on the Katherine project. Congratulations. That inspires me. When I recover from illness I hope to begin writing again myself.
wdUnnj August 11, 2016 at 1:39 am
Thank you, Carrie. You know – I have surmounted a lot of illness in my life. It was through very long convalescent periods as a child, when I was forced to stay in bed with the company of my books, that my imagination became a place of escape, comfort and story creation. During my times of illness as an adult, getting well equals wanting to start writing again. And writing always helped me to get better in so many ways.
I hope the same will go for you!

Looks interesting! A Tudor period that hasn’t been fictionalized to death!
wdUnnj August 11, 2016 at 3:04 am
Thanks, Lois! I absolutely loved researching Medieval Castile. Smile – it took me to Spain to walk in the footsteps of ‘Catalina’ and her family. I will never forget my visit to the Alhambra. It is a place I hope to return to one day.
All the best,
Wendy

This must be great to research all these sources, but it’s a lot of work….
Would be glad to buy your books, but in the Netherlands it is impossible, unless you have creditcards, and I don’t. So I have to wait until Bol.com sells them……
Wish you succes and lots of energy…..
Your website is different, but beautiful!

Thank you, Noëlle. And guess what – two of my novels are available at bol.com.

Your new book sounds really interesting and I’d love to be able to read it one day. Maybe it’s just the book I need to help me get back into reading after a few years of poor health when I’ve found concerntrating on anything very difficult. But the historical content of your book appeals to me especially one that’s been so well researched, well done for getting it published!
wdUnnj August 11, 2016 at 11:26 pm
How lovely if my novel returned you to reading, Liz. Hope it does – and that you will let me know if you do read and enjoy it!
All the best,
Wendy
David Foley August 11, 2016 at 11:46 am
A wonderful captivating title. Did you know …. pomegranates are a slightly peculiar fruit that have been thought to hold legendary powers for centuries. This fruit is featured in mythology and tradition as a symbol of good tidings. I am both captured and intrigued by your writing which is refreshing and like the symbolism of this fruit, I wish you ‘good luck’.
wdUnnj August 11, 2016 at 11:48 pm
Thank you, David, for your good wishes. I have always loved the myths and legends associated with the pomegranate fruit. For the story of Katherine of Aragon, they are especially potent and poignant. Life and death, fertility – even immortality. Falling Pomegranate Seeds seemed the perfect title for my planned work inspired by Katherine’s story. Her life, which surmounted so much sorrow, planted seeds in the pages of history that continue to grow and flourish.
Love,
Wendy
